In a significant advancement for the UK’s domestic energy efficiency and decarbonisation sector, GovTech innovators Novoville have formed an exclusive collaboration with Scene, local energy systems specialist, to jointly develop their Shared Works platform.
The partnership grew out of a successful collaboration during the 2022 CivTech Challenge sponsored by South of Scotland Enterprise. It brings together Novoville’s powerful data integration platform user interfaces with Scene’s energy modelling capabilities. Together, they promise huge efficiency gains for local authorities, housing associations, contractors and surveyors delivering retrofit projects, while improving the experience for residents benefitting from home upgrades.

Novoville has been helping clients manage their projects and data in the repairs, maintenance and retrofit sector since 2020. Its digital platform, Shared Works, provides local authorities such as Edinburgh and Birmingham and contractors such as Dodd Group with one view of the customer and a more joined-up, end-to-end approach to managing their project.
By integrating Scene’s cutting-edge energy modelling and demand management technology, the Shared Works platform will benefit from more precise energy demand profiling and robust energy efficiency and decarbonisation recommendations. In a UK first, this also includes modelling and recommendations for blocks of flats. Scene has been subcontracted by the UK government to build the upcoming Home Energy Model, ensuring that Shared Works offers clients the latest modelling technology out-of-the-box.
With Shared Works, the synergy between Novoville and Scene creates a national champion capable of driving unprecedented efficiency in retrofit projects. Users will now be able to harness tailored energy efficiency recommendations in a powerful multi-stakeholder platform and customer journey, driving extraordinary value. Shared Works combines property logbooks, retrofit assessment energy modelling, customer relationship management, analytics, and reporting into one platform.
Alez Schlicke, Director of Scene, said:
“We’re delighted to sign this collaboration agreement between Scene and Novoville to reflect the ongoing commitment of both companies. Decarbonising our homes is one of the most pressing social and environmental challenges we face today and Shared Works is the best digital service in the market to tackle this in an inclusive and accessible way.”
Louis Daillencourt, Business Development Director of Novoville, said:
“This is a big moment, not just for both our companies, but for the sector. Novoville’s strength has always lied in creating simple interfaces to tackle thorny public sector problems, and there is no thornier challenge than home energy upgrades! But we needed a partner to help us power our interfaces with best-in-class modelling. We couldn’t have found a better one than Scene. We’re very ambitious about what we’re building, and judging by current demand, we’re not the only ones that are excited.”
