We are delighted to announce that Shared Works by Novoville has been named Innovation of the Year: the North, Scotland and Wales at the 2026 Unlock Net Zero Awards.
The award recognises the role of Shared Works in transforming how housing retrofit programmes are managed and delivered, helping local authorities, housing associations and contractors overcome the administrative and coordination challenges that can slow progress towards net zero.
Developed in close collaboration with Birmingham City Council, Shared Works brings together retrofit programme management, compliance, contractor coordination, resident communication and reporting within a single digital platform.
The results have been significant. In Birmingham, Shared Works has helped reduce administrative processing time by 65%, supported the processing of over 1, 500 homes, and enabled more than 40% of residents to engage with their retrofit journey through a dedicated resident portal.
Building on this success, Shared Works has since been procured by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) and the Greater London Authority (GLA) to support the delivery of Warm Homes and other retrofit programmes across the UK, bringing councils and housing associations together through a shared digital infrastructure.
This award reflects the importance of innovation not only in the technologies used to decarbonise homes, but also in the systems that make large-scale retrofit delivery possible.
We are grateful to our partners, particularly Birmingham City Council and WMCA, for their continued collaboration in shaping and scaling Shared Works.
